Pizza Boy In Hell 

Pizza Boy in Hell is a puzzle-platformer mobile/tablet game that involves a Pizza Boy navigating through six levels of corporate hell to deliver a pizza to Satan. The pizza boy can walk and change the orientation of gravity to get through each level, collecting “tips” scattered around the level along the way to unlock later levels, while being wary of spikes that can halt his progress.

The game was developed over the course of 7 weeks, starting in the first week of September 2017. The idea emerged from the team’s inclination toward cartoon/wacky themes and their desire to effectively leverage mobile technology to create engaging game mechanics. The initial scope of the game was very large, involving several core mechanics apart from movement and gravity, enemy AI and a boss battle at the end. Defining the scope of the project for the available time was a significant challenge, especially since the team was unaware of its capabilities. Task estimation proved challenging for the team early on, but became increasingly accurate over time.

The project benefitted the team members significantly. Through regular peer evaluations and feedback from stakeholders, the members imbibed positive work practices. They continually improved their development process by conducting retrospectives and reviews on a weekly basis. At the end of the development cycle, the team has a fun game to its name, and four members who are significantly better game developers than when they started.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. As a game designer maintains a continuous view of Pizza and makes sure the development is on track;

  2. As a level designer, created Level 4, 5 and 6, and reviewed Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.
